Message From The Chairman of the Organizing Committee

Time flies. Year 2000 will soon knock on our door...

It goes without saying that the human civilization and technological advancement heavily relied, still relies and will continue to rely on the materials development. What materials will dominate the next millennium? What are the advances to expect in materials development (both processing and characterization) in the next millennium? These are the questions materials people ponder and interest even the general public.

To address these questions, the IoM (East Asia) will invite materials experts to gather and convene its Millennium Conference on 24^th March 2000 at Mandarin Hotel, Singapore. The theme "Advanced Materials For the New Millennium: Processing, Characterization & Application" is adopted for the conference. I trust this will be the major event in the materials processing and characterization world in the region which materials people would not want to miss out.
