Abstract

Current solid oxide fuel cells based on zirconia ceramics require high operating temperatures. There is a need to develop a range of ceramic solid elelctrolytes, porous elelctrodes and interconnect materials for reduced operating temperatures of these energy conversion devices. This presentation focuses on the recent devlopment of dense sintered ceria based ceramics The sinterablity, electrical properties and microstructural evolution are discussed.
